What are the responsibilities and job description for the Nutrition Site Aide position at Franklin County (NC)?
Franklin County Department of Aging is recruiting a part-time, Nutrition Site Aide at the Franklinton Senior Center and the Louisburg Senior Center. An employee in this position will be responsible for the daily operations of the Senior Center nutrition program. Duties include picking up food from the jail, driving the Sheriff’s Department van, delivering coolers packed with meals and milk to the Franklinton and Louisburg Senior Centers, packing home delivered meals for meal routes, serving lunch to senior citizens at the Franklinton Senior Center or the Louisburg Senior Center, following procedures for safe and sanitary handling of food and equipment, and washing dishes.· Build constructive and positive relationships with staff and clients.
· Read and calibrate a thermometer, set up a steam table, wash and disinfect dishes, oven, pots and pans.
· Test and record temperatures of meals on a daily basis.
· Stand on your feet for an extended period of time, lift up to 30 pounds routinely.
· Sweep and mop kitchen floors, sanitize countertops and sinks daily, clean the refrigerator and the stove weekly, follow proper hygiene procedures.
· Maintain route counts for home delivered meal routes and total counts for all participating clients.
o Responsible for completing meal delivery paperwork.
· Become knowledgeable of home delivered meals clients.
· Give driving instructions to home delivered meals delivery volunteers.
· Coordinate the packing of meals for the routes and serving of the nutrition site meal at 11:30 a.m.
· Assist with additional activities at the center such as catered meal events, birthday celebrations, holiday breakfast or special meal preparation as needed.
· Must be able to drive the van at the Franklin County Jail Monday – Fridays to pick up home delivered meals for the Louisburg Senior Center and the Franklinton Senior Center and deliver meals to those centers, drive the van back to the jail, and pick up your personal vehicle and return to work at the Franklinton Senior Center
· Work closely with Center supervisor on procedures to register and process new clients to both the home delivered meal routes and nutrition site meal.
o Other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
High School diploma and experience in nutrition services.
Possession of a valid North Carolina's driver's license, complete fleet management classes through Franklin County, either have or acquire Servsafe food safety certification within the first 6 months of employment.
Franklinton Senior Services location is 5 hours a day 2 days a week.
Louisburg Senior Services location is 5 hours a day 5 days a week.
