What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Health Nurse II (Child Health Coordinator) position at Franklin County (NC)?
The primary responsibility of this position is to serve as coordinator of the Child Health Program. The coordinator ensures compliance with state guidelines through policy revisions, staff training, and additional contract requirements. Direct patient care for the Child Health Clinic, including medical histories, interviewing patients, assisting providers, providing patient education, and discharge plans. May participate in community outreach events and staff shelters as needed.
Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing and one year of professional nursing experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Must have a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the NC Board of Nursing.
Possession of a valid North Carolina driver's license upon hire.
Required Immunizations
The following are immunizations that we require for all employees prior to the first date of employment:
- Two step TST (skin test) If you have had a negative TST within the last 12 months, you must have another one completed prior to employment.
- Proof of MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) immunity: You must have documentation of two doses of measles, mumps, and rubella given at least 28 days apart or laboratory evidence of immunity or laboratory confirmation of disease.
- Hepatitis B series: Either evidence of 3 doses; signed declination form or lab evidence of immunity
- Evidence of Tdap vaccine
- Evidence of varicella immunity: You must have documentation of two doses of varicella given at least 28 days apart or a history of varicella or herpes zoster based on physician diagnosis or laboratory evidence of immunity or laboratory confirmation of disease.
