What are the responsibilities and job description for the Public Health Nurse III position at Franklin County (NC)?
The primary responsibility of this position is to function as a Child Health Expanded Role Nurse and perform well child examinations.
Employee obtains a health history, performs a physical examination, helps the client to maintain a state of wellness through periodic screening procedures, health counseling, treatment under physician standing order, and/or referral to the appropriate physician or clinic.Completion of approximately three months of training that includes both a didactic and on-the-job supervision phase in the expanded role specialty of child health AND graduation from a four-year college or university with a BS in Nursing which includes a Public Health Nursing rotation and two years of Public Health nursing experience; or a Master’s in Public Health and graduation from a school of professional nursing and two years of professional nursing experience; or graduation from a school of professional nursing and three years of professional nursing experience including two years of Public Health nursing experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Expanded Role RN completion preferred, but will consider training qualified applicant after hire.
Must have a current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the NC Board of Nursing and a valid state of North Carolina driver's license.
Required Immunizations for all employees prior to the first date of employment:
Two step TST (skin test) If you have had a negative TST within the last 12 months, you must have another one completed prior to employment
Proof of MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) immunity: You must have documentation of two doses of measles, mumps and rubella given at least 28 days apart or laboratory evidence of immunity or laboratory confirmation of disease
Hepatitis B series: Either evidence of 3 doses; signed declination form or lab evidence of immunity
Evidence of Tdap vaccine
Evidence of varicella immunity: You must have documentation of two doses of varicella given at least 28 days apart or a history of varicella or herpes zoster based on physician diagnosis or laboratory evidence of immunity or laboratory confirmation of disease
