What are the responsibilities and job description for the Commissary / Visitation Clerk position at Franklin County (WA)?
The Commissary/Visitation Clerk is responsible for facilitating the commissary and visitation programs for the offenders at the Franklin County Corrections Center.
Works as a team member with one or more commissary / visitation clerks to ensure that commissary orders are processed and filled in accordance with Franklin County Correction Center policy. This position is responsible for insuring that commissary stock items are maintained by completing orders with approved vendors and conducting inventory of items delivered and stored once per week. In addition, this position is responsible for processing all orders by the offender population, coordinating delivery to the offenders once per week.
The position will work as a team with one or more commissary / visitation clerk to ensure that the weekend visitation program is conducted in accordance with Franklin County Corrections Center policy. This position is responsible for interacting with the public to schedule, supervise and assist visitors as they visit the incarcerated offenders in FCCC. This position will be responsible to ensure that visitors are compliant with facility rules and regulations for entry and visiting.ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
- The Commissary / Visitation Clerk is responsible for placing orders for stocked commissary items and conducting an inventory of items delivered.
- The Commissary / Visitation Clerk are responsible for assisting with and conducting inventory of commissary items on a weekly basis.
- The Commissary / Visitation Clerk prepares and completes are record of items sold to the offender population on a weekly basis.
- The Commissary / Visitation Clerk is responsible for preparing and filling commissary orders from the offender population on a weekly basis.
- The Commissary / Visitation Clerk is responsible for facilitating the offender visitation program in accordance with facility rules and policy.
- The Commissary / Visitation Clerk is responsible or receiving and processing general public visitors.
- The Commissary / Visitation Clerk is responsible for insuring that visitors are in compliance with facility rules and policy regarding entry and visitation.
- The Commissary / Visitation Clerk is responsible for coordinating visits with Corrections Deputies to insure offenders are moved to the visit area or kiosk in a timely and safe fashion.
- Ability to remain seated for extended periods of time while performing semi-skilled movements such as data entry and computer work.
- Ability to exert moderate physical effort in sedentary to light work, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling.
- Able to lift 50 lbs from floor to counter - 36” high.
- Ability to recognize and identify degrees of similarities or differences between characteristics of colors, forms, sounds and odors associated with job-related objects, materials and tasks.
- Ability to work in a corrections environment minimally exposed to potentially dangerous offenders.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to communicate accurately and clearly both orally and in writing.
- Knowledge of computer hardware, software and accessories.
- Knowledge of safe working procedures.
- Ability to be flexible and adaptable to change.
- Ability to keep accurate records and make detailed reports.
- Ability to calculate percentages, fractions, decimals, volumes, ratios, present values, and relationships.
- Ability to interpret basic descriptive statistical reports.
- Ability to use influence in a variety of situations such as supervising, managing, leading, teaching, directing and controlling.
- Ability to exercise good judgment, decisiveness and creativity in situations involving the direction, control and planning of the commissary and visitation programs.
- Ability to perform assigned duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
High school diploma, or G.E.D. College credits or technical training courses are preferred but not mandatory. Specialized training in correctional setting, social services setting, or customer service related experience; in addition, a working knowledge of Franklin County Corrections Center rules and policies concerning the visitation and commissary program. Or any combination of education and experience which would provide the applicant with the desired skills, knowledge and ability required to perform the job.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES & OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Certified or the ability to be certified as a food handler through the Washington State Department of Health.
- Must be able to work 20 hours per week.
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Must have valid Washington State driver’s license with no restrictions
- Must be able to successfully pass a background investigation which may include a polygraph exam.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed at the Franklin County Corrections Center visitation, administration and commissary storage areas utilizing general office type equipment; and may require offender supervision with the assistance of the Corrections Deputies.
