About the Role:
We are working with our client to find an Automation Engineer to join their Infrastructure team. This role is ideal for a scripting expert with 2-5 years of experience automating system administration tasks, user management, and operational workflows. You will play a crucial role in streamlining processes, improving efficiency, and developing automation solutions that enhance the team’s productivity. Over time, there will be opportunities to expand into security automation, but the immediate focus is on general automation and infrastructure improvements.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain automation solutions using PowerShell and other scripting languages.
- Automate user management processes, including provisioning, deprovisioning, and stale user cleanup.
- Implement automation for system monitoring, log analysis, and reporting.
- Work with Microsoft tools such as Azure, Active Directory, and Microsoft Defender to enhance automation capabilities.
- Assist in automating infrastructure tasks, such as patch management and system configurations.
- Query logs and system data using Kusto Query Language (KQL), SQL, and other data analysis tools.
- Collaborate with the Infrastructure Director to identify automation opportunities and free up time through streamlined processes.
- Support the team by writing alerts, automating routine workflows, and improving overall system efficiency.
- Work closely with development and operations teams to integrate automation into broader IT initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills:
- 2-5 years of experience in systems automation, infrastructure automation, or related roles.
- Expertise in PowerShell and other scripting languages.
- Experience automating IT processes, including user management, system monitoring, and workflow automation.
- Familiarity with Microsoft tools, including Azure, Active Directory, and Defender.
- Strong knowledge of Kusto Query Language (KQL) and SQL for data analysis and reporting.
- Ability to design and implement effective automation workflows.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify opportunities for process improvement.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate across teams.
Desirable:
- Interest in learning security automation and expanding into cybersecurity-related tasks over time.
- Experience working with cloud automation tools and infrastructure-as-code solutions.
- Familiarity with log analysis, monitoring tools, and IT operations best practices.
