The Cost Accountant position is responsible for all aspects of Manufacturing and Production costing analysis, as well as inventories for all business locations. The Cost Accountant is responsible for comparing standard cost to actual cost and identifying and explaining variances by customer, product, product line, and business units. Strong knowledge of the Profit & Loss statement and the ability to analyze inventory movements and general ledger accounts is required. Experience in the dairy industry and within the various SAP modules is highly desired - COPA.

Major Duties, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities:

• Perform the Month-end close procedures for Controlling
• Create Product Cost estimates for semi-finished goods and finished goods. Calculate milk and cream future price estimates monthly
• Calculate and analyze Variances on Process Orders, Cost Centers, and Recipes. Identify areas of waste generation and implement waste reduction initiatives to generate savings for the business.
• Understand and run the profitability report, analyze deficiencies, and communicate results to business stakeholders
• Work directly with the Finance team on customer pricing, providing product costing to enable team to accurately price the company's products
• Partner with Ops Controller to manage Capital Improvement projects - CAPEX request process, cost allocation to projects in CIP, calculation of ROI, and planning/budgeting
• Identify creative alternatives and provide recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance in the form of cost savings projects
• Key contributor for continuous improvement working with TPM teams to create and analyze loss trees, reduce breakdowns, and increase efficiencies through cost/benefit analysis
• Perform internal audits on inventories - cycle counting, noting discrepancies, making corrections, and working with team members on corrective actions to prevent re-occurrence.
• Lean manufacturing experience preferred.

Position specific skills and abilities:

• SAP experience, especially in COPA is highly desired
• Dairy industry experience is highly desired
• Advanced proficiency in Excel
• Must possess excellent writing, communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent detail orientation
• Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability
• Highly resourceful team-player, with the ability to also be extremely effective independently
• Ability to communicate with people from multiple layers of the Organization, from Management to Machine Operators
• Demonstrated ability to achieve performance goals and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Strong organizational and analytical skills
• Attention to detail, to ensure that records and reports are accurate
• Must be highly skilled in dealing with financial and numeric data
• Must have excellent work habits, including a willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done, especially when important deadlines cause greater than normal departmental pressures.

Ideal Qualifications:

Education/experience requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting/Finance or equivalent
• Five (5) years' experience in Accounting/Finance Department. SAP experience, Advance Excel experience and knowledge of general principals, regulatory standards and compliance requirements.

Shift and Schedule:

This is a full-time position working Monday-Friday. Must be flexible to work overtime, weekends and holidays according to the needs of the business.
