BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Maintenance, Operations and Transportation, operate a school bus to transport students safely and efficiently to an assigned location using a designated route.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Drive a school bus along a designated route, picking up and discharging students in accordance with time schedules. E
Maintain order and discipline among passengers on the bus and while waiting at bus stops in accordance with District policies related to disciplining students. E
Conduct daily safety inspection of bus, inspecting the interior, exterior and engine of vehicle. E
Maintain bus in clean and safe operating condition; wash, sweep and clean vehicles; refuel, service and prepare vehicle for operation. E
Transport students, faculty and parents on field trips or other events; meet scheduled departure and arrival times as assigned. E
Assist handicapped students to board or leave bus safely; assist students in wheelchairs by pushing chairs onto ramp, operating lift and securing wheelchairs inside van; determine appropriate action in potential or real medical emergency situations according to established guidelines. E
Prepare and maintain records and reports related to vehicle operation and condition. E
Observe legal and defensive driving practices; assure compliance with applicable traffic and student transportation laws, codes and regulations. E
Administer first aid to passengers as needed. E
Perform related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Any combination equivalent to: sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above.
LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Class B driver’s license with passenger and air brake endorsements.
Valid Medical Card.
