We are seeking a passionate and positive role model with a strong work ethic who actively embrace life-long learning as well as a collaborative approach to education. The Assistant InfantTeacher Assistant provides support of the implementation of authentic Montessori practice in a Montessori environment, with an understanding, willingness, and deep appreciation for the Montessori education.
Qualifications:
- Must have High School diploma
- Minimum two year of related experience: teaching in a child-care setting preferred
- Be at least 18 years old
- Desire to further the understanding and practice of Montessori philosophy
- Work under the direct supervision of the staff person in charge of the assigned group of children
- Evidence of continuing education and professional growth to include meeting all necessary requirements as established by state law and regulatory agencies
- Must be able to stand, bend, lift, and work in an outdoor playground environment for extended periods of time while supervising children
- Participate in staff meetings and required teacher training
- Must be physically active, engaged, able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and a drug test.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish a harmonious relationship with Montessori Lead and all supporting staff
- Collaborate daily with Montessori Lead and help with classroom maintenance, classroom management
- Models and implements positive classroom leadership and administration in support of the classroom and school community
- As directed by the Montessori Lead, assist in preparing and maintaining the Montessori environment
- Protecting the safety and well-being of children
- Assists children with daily work
- Use appropriate positive Montessori discipline techniques with students
- Notify Montessori Lead on concerning matters with students or parents
- Works with individual and small groups of children
