JOB SUMMARY
The full-time School Program Manager engages, inspires, and educates youth through the design, implementation, and management of a variety of programs offered at the Conservatory and at off-site locations including:

Dedicated service and collaboration with Columbus City Schools (CCS) through various programs - STEM Summer Experience Pathway, afterschool programs, professional development opportunities, and field trip scholarships.

On-site educational programming at the Conservatory for students Pre-K to 12
-
Off-site outreach programming throughout the community for students Pre-K -12

Quarterly Homeschool Day education events
The School Program Manager supervises a team of two full-time employees, as well as on-call educators and seasonal outreach educators.
Additional Information: This is a full-time exempt position. This position is eligible for the Conservatory's benefit package offered to full-time employees, which includes medical, dental and vision insurance, company paid Life/AD&D/Short-Term and Long-Term Disability insurance, participation in the Ohio Public Employees Retirement Program (OPERS), optional 457(b) Deferred Compensation plan, generous Paid Time Off (PTO), and complimentary membership to the Conservatory.
Compensation: $44,000 - $46,000 annual salary.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the Youth Program Senior Manager:

Leads and mentors a team of educators, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to deliver high-quality educational experiences.

Supervises the design and implementation of on-site school programs at Franklin Park Conservatory and outreach programs in the community.

Oversees the scheduling of field trips, data input, billing, and reporting.

Supervises the School Program team in the design and implementation of CCS curriculum for the Summer Experience program. Supervises the design and delivery of Homeschool curriculum.

Works cooperatively with Community Outreach and Education staff to implement creative, fun, and marketable educational outreach programs.

Conducts program evaluation and assessment.

Hires, trains, and supervises full-time, on-call, and seasonal staff.

Participates in and/or leads volunteer training related to youth programming.

Prepares, orders and organizes all materials needed for programs.

Tracks expenses, participation statistics and trends related to programming.

Provides excellent customer service to teachers, students and general admission guests of the Conservatory.

Participates as an active member of the COE team to help envision future educational programming and projects as they relate to overall Conservatory growth.

Performs other duties as assigned and demonstrates a focus on serving patrons of the Conservatory, maintaining the highest standards of customer service.
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
-
An education, natural science, horticulture, biology, art, food science, or similar undergraduate (4-year) degree or four or more years equivalent experience.

2-4 years experience teaching children in an informal and/or formal setting.

A background in environmental education, natural resources, STEM education, art and/or plant science
-
Previous experience designing curriculum or other educational programming
-
Previous experience supervising and mentoring is a must, 3-4 years of experience is preferred.

Proficient in the techniques of informal learning and a keen interest in sharing knowledge.
SKILLS REQUIRED AND RESULTS TYPICALLY ACHIEVED

Proficient in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Familiarity with Tessitura ticketing system is a bonus.

Ability to engage groups of students with enthusiasm.

Ability to supervise a small team of employees.

Ability to do some programmatic work and research offsite (computer, web access).

A professional demeanor with highly developed interpersonal skills.

Self-confident and skilled at public speaking.

Must have transportation to school sites.

Ability to move about for up to 5 miles/day, and move materials weighing up to 40 pounds.

Ability to pass a background check and fingerprinting.

Ability to work a flexible schedule (including occasional nights and/or weekends).
