The Office of Residential Life and Community Standards at Franklin Pierce University (FPU) is seeking qualified candidates for the Summer 2025 Resident Assistant (RA) position. The Summer RA will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well-managed residential environment for summer residents. The position provides an opportunity for student leaders to gain valuable skills in community development, conflict resolution, and administrative tasks while supporting the residential community.
Position Details:
- Employment Period: Starting date May 15, 2025, ending August 25, 2025
- Hours: 20 hours per week; on duty 8:00pm - 12:00am
- Compensation: Housing provided free of charge for the duration of employment.
- Work Location: The Office of Residential Life and Community Standards and all FPU residence halls.
- Attend both STEP days; Friday 7/25/25 and Monday 7/28/25, and assist with necessary event coverage.
1. Desk Coverage and Administrative Tasks
- Provide front desk coverage and assistance for summer residents.
- Assist with key audits, ensuring accurate distribution and collection.
- Conduct room checks and maintain accurate records of occupancy.
- Complete administrative reports, including incident reports and maintenance requests.
- Perform routine walkthroughs of buildings to ensure safety, cleanliness and compliance with university policies.
- Report any maintenance or safety concerns promptly to the Office of Residential Life & Community Standards.
- Monitor common areas and assist in maintaining a secure and welcoming living environment.
- Serve as the on-duty RA every night from 8:00pm to 12:00am.
- Hold and respond to the on-call phone at all hours, including after "on-duty" hours.
- Respond to resident concerns and incidents, escalating issues as needed to appropriate parties.
- Enforce university policies and uphold community standards to ensure a safe and respectful environment.
- Act as a resource for summer residents by providing information and assistance.
- Foster a sense of community by being visible and approachable within the residence halls.
- Offer peer support and guidance, referring residents to appropriate campus resources as necessary.
- Must be a full time undergraduate student at FPU.
- Must have a minimum semester and cumulative GPA of 2.5
- Must be in good disciplinary standing with the university.
- Previous experience in residential life or a similar leadership role preferred.
- Strong communication, problem solving and interpersonal skills.
