What are the responsibilities and job description for the Educational Assistant - General Education position at Franklin Public School District?
Responsibilities:
1. Work with individual students or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material or skills.
2. Supervise students in lunchroom, on playground and other areas as assigned.
3. Assist in school office with reception and clerical tasks.
4. Be familiar with all school rules and procedures and provide assistance and direction to students in a positive but firm manner.
5. Make discipline referrals when school rule violations occur.
6. Willing to be trained to perform medical procedures such as care for diabetic students and administer Epi-pen. etc.
Qualifications:
1. Above average human relations skills, demonstrating effective verbal/written communications with students, staff, parents and others encountered on the job.
2. Initiative and self-motivation to work independently.
3. Interest in being part of the school's cooperative and collaborative effort in providing the best educational opportunities to all students.
4. Ability to exercise good judgment in enforcing school rules.
5. Ability to work in a positive manner and keep school matters confidential.
6. Position requires ability to be on your feet for long periods of time (walking, stair climbing).
7. Position requires ability to move quickly, run, if necessary.
8. Knowledgeable about curriculum content and subject matter.
9. Knowledge of computer data entry and word processing, typing, filing, and Xeroxing.
10. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the district may find appropriate and acceptable.
11. 2 yr Associates Degree preferred.
