JOB TITLE: 5th or 6th grade Math Teacher
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Ten (10) Months (Classified – Exempt)

POSITION DESCRIPTION
To provide high-quality instruction to all students based on TN state standards in all assigned subject areas to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Plan, prepare, implement, and assess instructional lessons based on the grade-level standards and the individual learning plan for each student.
· Provide grade-level instruction to all students in the classroom.
· Maintain accurate records in the following areas:
- Student attendance
- Student data/progress
- Parent correspondence
- Individual Education Plans
- Injuries
- Cumulative Records for each child
· Regular communication with parents regarding student progress and conference with parents as needed.
· Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
· Conduct on-going assessment of student achievement and respond to the data to improve student learning.
· Assist in the selection of books, equipment and other instructional materials.
· Participate in professional learning activities.
· Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
· Abide by Teacher Code of Ethics.
· Comply with state, district and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
· Supervise students at all times.
· Maintain positive relationships with parents and community members.
· Maintain a clean, safe and orderly classroom environment.
· Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
· Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· Appropriate Tennessee Teaching License with applicable endorsement
· Bachelors’ Degree or higher in related field
Demonstrate Knowledge and Abilities:
· Effectively communicate with various stakeholders
· Ability to care for children
· Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
· Knowledge of curriculum and instruction
· Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
· Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
· Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling and twisting
· Frequent walking
· Regular light lifting (less than 15 pounds); occasionally may lift and move textbooks and classroom equipment
· Work inside or outside; regular exposure to noise
· May work prolonged or irregular hours

Pay: $45,302.00 - $87,681.00 per year
