What is the Quant Developer - C# and SQL - responsible for?

OSAM is hiring a Quantitative Developer / Software Developer to join our Quant Technology team. The ideal candidate will have solid computer science fundamentals, a demonstrated passion for solving problems with technology, and possess strong programming experience. This position is a hands-on role responsible for developing, supporting, and maintaining firmwide research, investment, risk, performance and trading data-rich platform supported by applications, APIs, and visualization tools. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with a strong technical background and excellent communication skills to interface directly with OSAM's research team.

What are the ongoing responsibilities of a Quant Developer - C# and SQL?

  • Work directly with senior developers and research group to integrate and optimize research data processes and models
  • Design and develop in C# / Python / SQL in a stable and scalable manner.
  • Build robust data pipelines from many sources of varied levels of data quality, supporting both research demands, ad-hoc client analytic requests, and the core production applications.
  • Work with researchers, portfolio managers, and quants to implement, support, and run portfolio models.

What ideal qualifications, skills and experience would help someone to be successful?

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field of study.
  • Solid computer science fundamentals / knowledge of data structures and algorithms
  • 2-4 years of prior professional programming experience
  • Must be proficient in C#, Python, and SQL (SQL Server)
  • Working knowledge on developing applications in MS Visual Studio
  • Excellent communication skills / able to interact with a wide range of users ranging from very technical (quants) to non-technical
  • Strong analytical skillset with demonstrated attention to detail
  • Nice-to-have skills and experience :

  • Experience working in a financial services company, ideally in asset management
  • Experience working in a front office environment with researchers and portfolio managers
  • Advanced degree a plus
  • Familiarity with financial markets
  • Familiarity with proper source control practices
  • Experience with DevOps practices, including CI / CD, and infrastructure-as-code
  • Working knowledge developing with Azure technologies

Along with base compensation, other compensation is offered such as a discretionary bonus, 401k plan, health insurance, and other perks. There are several factors taken into consideration in making compensation decisions including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. At Franklin Templeton, we apply a total reward philosophy where all aspects of compensation and benefits are taken into consideration in determining compensation. We expect the salary for this position to range between $140,000 and $170,000.
