Turn your upholstery skills into a legacy.
Frankman Motor Company — a full-service dealership with a thriving restoration and custom body shop — is expanding with a brand-new, in-house Upholstery Department, and we’re looking for a talented, self-motivated Upholstery Shop Manager to take the lead.
This is a rare opportunity to launch and lead your own upholstery department inside a fast-growing shop that handles everything from full classic car restorations to modern custom builds. You’ll have the freedom and support to shape your space, establish systems, and build a team around your craftsmanship.
We’ve always got full restorations in progress that need complete custom interiors — from vintage muscle cars to one-off resto-mods. And we’re not stopping at just automotive. If you can stitch it, pad it, wrap it, or restore it — we’ve got work for you.
Here’s the best part:
You’ll get to focus on what you do best — the craft. You won’t need to worry about bookkeeping, chasing payments, ordering supplies, or all the administrative headaches that slow down solo upholstery businesses. Our team handles all the backend operations so you can stay hands-on and fully immersed in your work.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Launch and manage an all-new in-house upholstery department
- Design, fabricate, and install custom automotive interiors — seats, headliners, door panels, carpets, dashes, and more
- Handle upholstery work beyond automotive (ATVs, motorcycles, boats, furniture, etc.)
- Collaborate with our restoration and custom build teams on high-end projects
- Help define shop layout, tools, workflow, and materials
- Oversee quality control and manage future upholstery team members as the department grows
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace with a focus on precision and craftsmanship
What We’re Looking For:
- Proven experience in custom upholstery, especially in automotive or marine applications
- Strong design sense and attention to detail
- Ability to pattern, cut, sew, and install a wide range of interior components
- Experience with non-automotive upholstery a big plus
- Leadership mindset with a desire to grow a department and mentor others
- Comfortable working independently while collaborating across departments
- Physically able to lift, bend, and work throughout the day
Compensation & Benefits:
- Guaranteed 40 hours per week – no flat rate
- Dental and vision insurance
- Large portion of employee healthcare premiums paid
- Support from a full-service dealership and established body & restoration shop
- Steady stream of exciting, high-quality builds
- No solo business headaches – we handle the operations so you can focus on the craft
Why Frankman Motor Company?
We’re more than just a body shop — we’re a destination for enthusiasts and collectors across the region. Our restoration and custom teams bring life back to classic muscle cars, vintage trucks, and custom projects of all kinds. Now, with an in-house upholstery shop, we’re raising the bar again. If you’re ready to turn your upholstery expertise into a career-defining opportunity, this is your shot.
