The purpose of the Packer's position is to inspect and pack finished product on the gluing line. The ultimate goal of this position is to prevent non-conforming product from reaching customers while packing finished product to meet schedule demands.
Essential Duties
- Review job/order specifications (size, style, quantity, allowable over/under, general appearance expectations, packing cases)
- Ensure that packing cases are staged and ready for use and that case labels are available for use
- Review finished product as it reaches to packing station on the equipment. Remove product that is noted to have a defect
- If defects are detected as a result of the gluing process, the Packer is responsible for stopping the equipment and alerting the Gluer Operator of the issue
- The Packers are responsible for alerting Quality Assurance of quality issues and for obtaining direction for disposition of questionable product
- The Packers are responsible for ensuring that finished cases contain the correct quantity and are appropriately labeled
- May be required to assist in a variety of tasks related to the Finishing process
