Position Summary
Perform a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to assist in the quality and compassionate care provided to patients. These duties include greeting and escorting patients to the exam room. Prepare for, set up and assist with examinations, procedures, and treatments per protocols, policies, and procedures by assisting the physician during the examination/procedure. Documents care provider during patient visit in the electronic medical record system (EMR). Enters medication and lab orders in the EMR for provider sign off, and enters medication refill orders per protocol..
Position Summary
- Greet patients warmly and escort them to an exam room.
- Assist optometrists and ophthalmologists during examinations, procedures, and treatments.
- Accurately record medical information into the electronic medical record system (EMR).
- Enter medication, lab orders, and medication refills for provider review and approval.
- Maintain clean, organized, and ready-to-use patient areas.
- Help patients with questions, forms, and general inquiries to improve their experience.
- Collaborate with medical and administrative staff to ensure smooth operations.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 2 years of experience as a medical assistant preferred
- Medical Assistant certification preferred
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Experience with practice management and electronic medical records (EMR) preferred
- Excellent typing skills
- Strong attention to detail in managing patient records and documentation
- Friendly and approachable attitude to help patients feel comfortable
- Strong communication skills to support both patients and staff
- Attend weekly meetings
- Reliable transportation required
- Willing to travel to our multiple Fraser Eye Care Center locations (Fraser, Warren, Rochester Hills, Royal Oak, Lapeer, and Port Huron).
