Its capabilities include retina surgery, cataract surgery, glaucoma surgery, refractive surgery and oculoplastic surgery. This 10,000 square foot, state of the art facility, offers a full staff of specialty trained Nurses (RNs), certified technicians and Board-Certified Anesthesiologists. Position Summary
Michigan Outpatient Surgery Center has a rewarding opportunity for a Surgical Scrub Technician to join our team. The Surgical Scrub technician is responsible for assisting surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses in the care of patients for a busy ambulatory surgery center specializing in ophthalmic surgeries.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and organize the operating room before and after surgeries.
- Assist in patient positioning and ensure their safety and comfort during procedures.
- Assist surgeons during the procedures by passing instruments and other necessary items.
- Anticipate the needs of surgeons and other team members to facilitate efficient surgeries.
- Ensure that all surgical equipment is properly sterilized an available for use.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to maintain a sterile field throughout procedures.
- Maintains proper care of equipment, instruments, and supplies when procedure is finished.
- Assists the circulating nurse in the preparation of surgical procedure and during turnovers between procedures.
- Obtains counts with the circulating nurse.
- Maintain knowledge and practice of aseptic techniques.
- Knowledgeable of surgical procedures and instrumentation.
- Maintains standards by participating in the in-services.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- 1-year experience as a Surgical Tech in an outpatient surgery center is required.
- Completion of an accredited Surgical Tech program is preferred.
- Knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and sterile techniques.
- Computer knowledge including Electronic Medical Records (EMR), preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
