What You Will Do

Under direction of the Controller, oversees the operational elements of the accounting function. Daily management and supervision of accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and staff providing support to Fred Finch Youth and Family Services, Inc./CARES (FF) accounting function. This role ensures accurate and timely preparation of financial records and smooth operations across the accounting department.

Full-Time, Exempt.  Schedule TBD

Salary Range
In accordance with California law, the expected salary range for this California position is between $53.22 and $67.93 per hour. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

What You Bring to The Table (requirements):

• Knowledge of:

  • Principles and techniques for collaborating with staff and groups to foster effective team interaction.
  • Accounting, auditing, financial analysis, and budget principles and procedures
  • Principles and practices of financial statement and report preparation
  • Methods and techniques of balancing financial statements and transactions
  • Principles of audit and quality control for financial documentation
  • Applicable federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations as well as industry standards and best practices pertinent to the assigned area of responsibility, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB)
  • Modern equipment and communication tools used for business functions and program, project, and task coordination, including computers and software programs relevant to work performed.
  • Extremely strong Excel skills that allow for analysis, report building, and reconciliation.

  Ability to:

  • Expert ability in managing details while keeping the big picture constantly in mind.
  • Experience working with and managing teams with diverse skill sets and backgrounds.
  • Research, analyze, and evaluate new service delivery methods, procedures, and techniques.
  • Conduct research projects on a wide variety of accounting, financial, and budgetary issues
  • Evaluate and prepare recommendations for changes to policies and procedures.
  • Research, interpret, summarize, and clearly present financial and programmatic information and data.
  • Independently work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow-up on assignments
  • In English, communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with all employees, other agencies, and authorities.

  Education and Experience:

  • B.A. Degree in accounting, finance, business administration from an accredited college or university.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in role supervising and/or overseeing accounting.
  • Two (2) years of direct management experience.
