The laboratory of Dr. Alice Berger is recruiting a highly motivated Post-Doctoral Research Fellow to carry out research in the field of cancer genetics and genomics. The Berger lab focuses on application and development of functional genomics approaches for understanding somatic mutations in cancer, with a focus on lung cancer. The lab utilizes genomics approaches for oncogene discovery (Moorthi et al., JCI Insight 2024; TCGA, Nature 2014) and functional genomics approaches for understanding mutation function (Berger, Brooks, Wu et al., Cancer Cell 2016; Vichas et al., Nature Communications 2021; Parrish et al., Cell Reports 2021). The mission of the lab is to make discoveries that lead to better therapies for lung cancer.

Responsibilities

The successful applicant will drive rigorous scientific projects utilizing genome-wide CRISPR knockout screens, in vivo murine modeling, next-generation sequencing, molecular biology and biochemistry, and/or single-cell RNA-seq, with the goal of understanding the mechanisms of oncogenes in cancer. The position will require both independent research as well as the ability to collaborate closely with computational biologists and other colleagues.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Recent PhD, and/or MD
  • Track record of independent productive research
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong foundation in cell culture, genetic engineering, next-gen sequencing, and molecular biology

The annual base salary range for this position is from $77,976 to $150,000 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
