Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.

The Lab Aide performs routine work in a clinical or research laboratory.

Responsibilities

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY:

 

The incumbent works under the close supervision of the Lab Manager or other lab personnel.

 

JOB DUTIES: 

• Assist with lab reagent stocking/organization;
• Change water bath;
• Aliquot reagents;
• Remove chemical waste;
• Prepare reagents (buffers, ethanol);
• Autoclave glassware and remove biohazard trash;
• Provide basic support to the laboratory and perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Graduation from High School or equivalent with interest in the sciences. 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Some lab experience and/or college level chemistry courses.
• Interested in learning research.
• Ideal candidate will be available for at least 10 hours per week.
• Accuracy and attention to details is essential.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $20.76 to $29.54, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.  Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center offers employees access to a retirement savings plan, an employee assistance program, paid sick leave (1 hour for every 30 hours worked), and prorated paid holidays (up to 13 days per year).
