As a painter/general laborer, you will be responsible for preparing and painting both interior and exterior surfaces in residential settings. Your duties will include surface preparation, color matching, and applying paint or other finishes efficiently and neatly. Residential Painter Duties & Responsibilities:
- Review painting tasks for each job.
- Inspect surfaces and determine appropriate primers, paints, finishes, and tools for application
- Monitor material inventory; manage and review painting supplies needed for each job.
- Cover furniture, fixtures, and exposed surfaces for protection before starting projects
- Prepare walls, cabinets, siding, fences, and other surfaces for painting projects (e.g., scraping, sandpapering, paint removal)
- Repair cracks, dents, holes, and other minor surface damage with putty or plaster before painting
- Follow workplace health and safety rules
- Wear appropriate painting uniforms.
- Wear all protective gear.
- Load and unload tools and equipment from work vehicles
- Maintain a clean, tidy work area on job sites.
- Ensure all painting equipment and tools are in your possession.
- Review painting work with the customer.
- Work well with customers, contractors, and other trades
- Coordinate service with customers and handle complaints professionally.
Residential Painter Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED (preferred)
- Valid Driver’s License, clean driving record
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to handle general labor.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Commercial or industrial painting experience (preferred)
- Knowledge of residential and commercial painting techniques
- Comfortable using different painting tools on various surfaces (e.g., spray equipment)
- Able to perform basic mathematical calculations and convert measurements
- Able to sit, stand, kneel, lift, and climb ladders
- Strong planning, organizational, multi-tasking, and problem-solving skills
- Great attention to detail, positive attitude, and strong work ethic
- Can work independently and as part of a team environment
- Can communicate well (multiple languages are a plus)
- Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions
Job Type: Temp-to-hire
Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 – 40 per week
