Position Summary
Position Summary:
The Youth Programs Assistant provides in-class support during the Kids on Campus summer program. This position must support the Lead Instructor in delivering a positive, engaging, and enriching educational experience for youth ages 8-15 years of age in a diverse, multicultural educational setting.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are the functions essential to performing this job:
1. Assist the Lead Instructor in preparing and delivering lesson plans and activities for the group.
2. Help supervise and engage students during lessons, outdoor activities, and special events.
3. Provide individual or small group support to students needing additional assistance.
4. Help maintain classroom organization and assist with materials and supplies.
5. Ensure a safe and positive classroom environment, addressing any issues or conflicts among students.
6. Encourage participation and foster positive social interactions among children.
7. Assist with setting up, cleaning up, and organizing before and after activities.
8. Support the monitoring of students during Lunch Bunch, and outdoor play.
9. Participate in staff meetings and training sessions, as required.
10. Maintain effective communication with students, and program staff.
11. Other duties as assigned to ensure the success of the program.
Required Minimum Qualifications
1. High school diploma or GED
2. Must be 18 years or older
3. Ability to sit, stand, and move around for extended periods of time.
4. Comfort with outdoor activities, including some physical activity.
5. Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
6. Prior experience working with children in a group setting, preferably in educational or recreational programs.
7. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and interact with youth in a positive manner.

1. Previous experience working with children in a formal or informal setting
2. Ability to communicate effectively with adults and children
