What are the responsibilities and job description for the Specialized Instructor - Preschool position at Frederick County Government?
POSITION DETAILS:
Non-exempt; part-time year-round position; flexible hours, working up to 20-30 hours per week; assigned hours may include weekdays, weekends/evening hours and events; no benefits
- Coordinate lesson plans and course outlines
- Assure the return and condition of issued equipment and supplies
- Compile and maintain recordkeeping related to each class (e.g. attendance)
- Perform other related duties as required

- Minimum age 18 years by time of hire
- Experience providing related instruction in a leadership role to preschool aged youth
- Experience planning and developing activity plans for preschool aged youth
- Current certification in First Aid and CPR (infant/child and adult), or able to become so certified within 60 days of hire (current certifications must be maintained throughout employment)
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES:
- Advanced knowledge of preschool skills and understanding of the principles of child development and educational and enrichment methods
- Ability to effectively prepare and carry out lesson plans
- Ability to effectively lead and supervise large and small groups in recreational activities
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working/teaching relationships with coworkers, participants and their family members, and the general public
- Strong and effective spoken and written (English) communication skills in order to conduct classes and perform related record-keeping
- Physical requirements include the ability to actively participate in the activity presented as part of the instruction process, and to transport, set-up and take-down related equipment
- Ability and willingness to participate in program planning
- Ability to provide own transportation as needed
