What You’ll Do:
Key Responsibilities
As an Assistant County Attorney, you will:
- Provide legal advice and guidance on County matters, including ordinances, contracts, and land use issues.
- Represent the County in legal proceedings, including code violations, tax collection, and litigation.
- Prepare and review legal documents, including proposed ordinances and various contracts.
- Attend meetings of County boards, commissions, and agencies to provide legal advice.
- Monitor and interpret federal and state legislation affecting the County.
- Collaborate with County staff, Board members, and elected officials on legal strategies and responses.
What We’re Looking For:
- Extensive Experience: 3 years of expertise in the local government or public sector in the state of Virginia.
- Educational Foundation: ABA-accredited Law School degree and admission to practice before the Virginia Supreme Court and the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Virginia.
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License and have held it for at least 2 years
