Position Overview:
We are a well-established CPA firm seeking a talented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our growing team. In this hybrid role, you will handle a wide variety of accounting functions, including tax return preparation, financial statement preparation, and general accounting for both individual and business clients. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of accounting experience, a strong background in tax preparation, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Experience with a small to mid-sized accounting or CPA firm is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
- Tax Return Preparation: Prepare individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns in compliance with current tax laws and regulations.
- Financial Reporting: Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including account reconciliations.
- General Accounting: Maintain general ledger, process journal entries, and perform account reconciliations to ensure accurate and timely financial records.
- Tax Filings & Compliance: Manage tax filings and deadlines to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Collaborative Work: Work closely with team members and the partners to provide accurate and timely financial statements and support client needs.
- Audit Participation: Participate in external audits of client companies as needed.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Stay updated on industry regulations, tax law changes, and accounting best practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting or a related field.
- Tax Preparation Experience: Proven experience in preparing individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns.
- Tech-Savvy: Comfortable using cloud-based software, accounting tools, and financial reporting platforms.
- Microsoft Excel Expertise: Advanced proficiency in Excel is a plus. Basic proficiency is expected.
- Thomson Reuters Products: Experience with Thomson Reuters tax and accounting software is a plus.
- CPA Firm Experience: Experience working in a small to mid-sized CPA firm preferred.
- Enrolled Agent (EA): EA certification is a plus.
- CPA License or CPA Eligibility: CPA license or eligibility is a plus.
- Bookkeeping Experience: Experience in bookkeeping is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
