Job Summary

The Manager is a Registered Nurse responsible for the supervision of clinical services for Cardiac Cath and Pre/Post area. Establishes, implements and evaluates goals and objectives for cardiology services which meet and promote the standards of quality and contribute to the total organization and philosophy.

Example of Essential Functions

  • Oversees all direct and indirect patient services provided by clinical personal.
  • Monitors assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient and family care to all clinical personnel as directed.
  • Assure that resources are effectively utilized.
  • Responsible for reviews of all polices/procedures per FHH standards.
  • Collaborates with Medical Director to ensure 24/7 interventional cardiologist schedule is complete. Ensures Cath Lab staff call schedule is complete and meets requirements.
  • Provides guidance and coaching to staff to assist them in continually improving all aspects of cardiology care services.
  • Conducts meetings with clinical staff on a monthly basis.
  • Plans and implements Inservice and continuing education programs to meet education and training needs of clinical personnel.
  • Supervises Cath Lab education process with CNS.
  • Oversees orientation of new staff.
  • Ensures education compliance with State and JC requirements.
  • Collaborates with Data Coordinators of patient medical records, statistics, reports and records for purposes of evaluation and reporting of department activities.
  • Assist the Director in the preparation and administration of the budget.
  • Assures that resources are effectively utilized.
  • Collaborates, strategizes and advises Director on capital and operating budget requirements. Monitors compliance with operating budget and provides variance analysis upon request.
  • Monitors units’ productivity and develops action plan as appropriate.
  • Hires, evaluates and counsels staff as necessary.
  • Maintain employee files, to include documentation according to organization policy.
  • Conducts performance management to include staff evaluations, coaching and counseling per organization policies and procedures.
  • Orients and/or delegates orientation of new employees.
  • Evaluates competency levels of new clinical personnel prior to performance of independent patient care.
  • Assist with development and implementation of total quality management program.
  • Assures that department operations follow established polices and procedures,
  • Coordinates efforts to manage patient care in emergency situations.
  • Acts as a clinical resource for staff and patients. Maintains a level of expertise regarding Cardiac Cath Lab practices.
  • Oversees/delegates equipment and device management in department.
  • Liaison for Community relations and Physicians.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Medicare, state and federal regulations governing inpatient and outpatient Cardiac Care.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills and ability to implement team building, along with significant problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Effective written and spoken communications, and excellent interpersonal skills.

Minimum Education, Training, and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing required. Master’s degree with focus in Nursing recommended. Nursing administration and applicable specialty certification recommended.
  • Currently licenses as a registered nursing the State of Maryland or compact state.
  • Current ACLS and BLS
  • Clinical nursing experience in Cardiology required. Interventional Cardiology experience preferred; Previous supervisory, managerial or leadership experience strongly preferred.

Must demonstrate and maintain current knowledge and skills in providing appropriate care/contact for patients in the following age groups:

  •             __        Neonate (0 thru 30 days)
  •             __        Infant (31 thru 12 months)
  •             __        Child (13 months thru 12 years)
  •             __        Adolescent (13 years thru 17 years)
  •             _X_      Adult (18 years thru 65 years)
  •             _X_      Geriatric (66 years)      

Must demonstrate knowledge of principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflection of patient’s status. Possess the ability to interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient’s requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs and to provide the care needed as described in the unit’s/department’s policies and procedures. 

Physical Demands:

Light work- lifting up to 20 pounds on an infrequent basis (less than one lift every three minutes) and/or carrying up to ten pounds or requiring walking or standing to a significant degree (approximate six hours a day).

Ergonomic Risk Factors:

Repetition: Repeating the same motion over and over again places stress on the muscles and tendons. The severity of risk depends on how often the action is repeated, the speed of the movement, the required force and muscle involved

Forceful Exertion: The amount of physical effort required to perform a task (such as moving patients) or to maintain control of equipment or tools. The amount of force depends on the type of grip, the weight of an object or person, body posture, the type of activity and duration of the task.

Awkward Posture: Posture is the position your body is in and its effect on the muscle groups that are involved in the physical activity. Awkward postures include repeated or prolonged reaching, bending, kneeling, squatting, working overhead with your hands or arms, or holding fixed positions.

Contact Stress: Pressing the body hard on sharp edges can result in placing too much pressure on nerves, tendons and blood vessels. For example, using the palm of your hand to hit or stick objects can increase the risk of musculoskeletal disorders

Working Conditions:

  1. Bloodborne Pathogens Exposure Risk:  Category A – Will have exposure to blood or body fluids
  1. Extended work hours beyond 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week.

Schedule:
Full time - 80hrs /per 2 week pay period; M-Fri. 8a-4:30p with off shift and weekend oversight

Pay is based on experience, skills and education.   If position is part-time, salary will be pro-rated based on scheduled hours.  The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on specialty if applicable. Non-Exempt positions may have shift differential and/or Overtime paid, if applicable. 

 

Annual pay range: $91,852.80-$142,667.20
