Fredericksburg Academy, the leading independent school in the Fredericksburg region, is seeking a full-time Upper School French teacher beginning in August of 2025. Candidates should have a passion for supporting students to reach their full potential as students and citizens, a demonstrated desire for professional growth and a willingness to participate fully in the life of the school. Fredericksburg Academy provides students with the opportunity to prepare themselves for and apply to college in a demanding yet supportive environment while becoming independent learners within our challenging college-prep curriculum. The Upper School French position covers French II through French V/AP in grades 9-12. Fredericksburg Academy students bring a laptop or tablet to school each day, so a high level of technological proficiency and demonstrated use of technology within the learning environment is preferred. Additional responsibilities include serving as an advisor to approximately 8 to 10 students. We seek candidates interested in supporting co-curricular activities (preferably through coaching one of our athletic teams at the MS or Varsity level, helping our Yearbook class, or advising other student-led clubs).

- Serve as a member of the World Languages department; attend meetings and support the work of the department

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in French, Education, or a related field
- Demonstrated successful classroom teaching or similar field of work
- Fluency in French and proficiency in English
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create an engaging learning environment
- Knowledge of best practices in language acquisition and differentiation strategies
- Commitment to fostering a love for languages and cultural appreciation among learners.

- Salary commensurate with experience
