Fredericksburg Academy, the leading independent school in Fredericksburg region, is seeking a full-time Lower School teacher of Spanish, beginning in the 2025-2026 school year. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing an engaging Spanish language curriculum that fosters students’ love for language learning while enhancing their communication skills and cultural awareness. This position requires creativity, enthusiasm, and the ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver age-appropriate Spanish language instruction for elementary school students.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and engagement.
- Incorporate a variety of teaching strategies, including hands-on activities, storytelling, music, and movement, to make language learning interactive and enjoyable.
- Integrate cultural elements into lessons to help students appreciate the richness of Spanish-speaking communities.
- Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations and provide meaningful feedback to students and parents.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and other specialists to support cross-curricular connections and reinforce language development.
- Maintain open communication with parents regarding student progress, achievements, and areas for growth.
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events as required.
- Uphold school policies, values, and mission.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Education, or a related field
- State teaching certification or relevant licensure (or willingness to obtain).
- Fluency in Spanish and proficiency in English.
- Previous experience teaching Spanish at the elementary level preferred.
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to create an engaging learning environment.
- Knowledge of best practices in language acquisition and differentiation strategies.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Commitment to fostering a love for languages and cultural appreciation among young learners.
Salary Information and Benefits:
Salary commensurate with experience
