- The Lower School Assistant Principal supports and advances the mission of FCS by assisting the Lower School Principal in the areas of discipline, curriculum, scheduling, and coordinating and supervising activities which reflect the school’s philosophy and meet the needs of the students; reports to the principal.
- The Lower School Assistant Principal should have the following qualifications:
- Committed Christian with a close personal walk with the Lord, maintained through personal routines (such as prayer and reading the Bible) and in the school setting (through regular participation in “Prayer and Share” devotional times and other spiritual development opportunities at the school) (1Thessalonians 5:11)
- Possesses Christian character qualities to serve as a role model for young people and readiness to share faith in Christ with students as part of our school’s mission (1 Timothy 4:12)
- Regular in attendance at a Christian, Bible-believing church, whose fundamental beliefs are not contrary to the FCS Statement of Faith (Hebrews 10:25)
- Commitment to a Biblical lifestyle, not promoting or engaging in actions, beliefs, or lifestyles contrary to biblical standards, such as premarital, extramarital, transgender, or homosexual behavior (Romans 12:1-2, I Corinthians 6:9-20, Ephesians 4:1-11, 5:3-5, I Thessalonians 4:3-8, I Timothy 4:12, II Timothy 2:19-22, I Peter 1:15-16, 2:15-17, I John 3:1-3)
- If married, a solid commitment based on Mark 10:9 and positive marital relationship
- Strong commitment to Christian education
- Bachelor's degree that preferably includes courses focused on K-12 education
- Master’s degree in education, counseling, or administration, or significant progress in graduate program
- Minimum 3 years teaching experience (preferably in a Christian school)
- Committed to keeping ACSI or state certification current according to FCS guidelines; ACSI certificate in administration required
- Ability to communicate sensitively with students, staff, parents, and the general public and to communicate a vision for Christian education
- Ability to multitask and keep progress of several projects continuously moving forward
- Team player who seeks to build unity among the staff and within the organization
- Teachable, servant spirit
- Demonstrated ability to relate to students, professional staff, parents/guardians, and members of the community
- Excellent organization and communication skills
- Highly relational
- Understanding of FCS culture and values

- Understanding of the special needs of students at various grade levels
- Provides support to the principal in the day-to-day operation of the Lower School
- Works closely with other departments (clinic, business office, technology, athletics, maintenance, security, etc.) to serve the needs of students, school families, and staff
- Supports school-wide vision and takes an active role in motivating and inspiring staff to achieve the goals of the school
- Works with staff to provide support, mentorship, and collaboration to meet the goals and expectations of the classroom
- Assist with the enforcement of student discipline that is both restorative and effective, following the policies and procedures set forth in the student handbook, and ensure all follow-up communication and documentation with families and staff is handled effectively
- Assists principal with evaluations, providing feedback and collaboration
- Oversees updates of faculty and student handbooks; maintains accurate digital files of all handbooks
- Provides leadership in teaching techniques, innovation, and class organization
- Consistently communicates to teachers, through words and actions, that they are valued, supported, and cared for
- Works with principal on ensuring communication to teachers about upcoming events, deadlines, changes, and/or important information is thorough, concise, and timely
- Works collaboratively with Lower School Counselor, Resource department, staff, and principals
- Works with Communications Coordinator to plan events for parent involvement
- Creates and supervises volunteer opportunities to help balance teacher workload
- Assists with coordination of special events such as Teacher Work Week, Orientation, Back to School Night, Grandparents Day, etc.
- Assists with ACSI Competitions and events as requested
- Collaborates with Security Department regarding drills and emergency procedures; oversees the updates emergency binders annually
- Handles whatever is necessary in the absence of the Lower School principal
