What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver position at Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank?
Position Summary:
The Distribution Services Driver is responsible for transporting products, organizing volunteers,
welcoming neighbors, collecting appropriate data, and maintaining order and efficiency at Mobile Food
Pantry distributions. Additionally, responsible for performing a variety of manual tasks associated with
the loading, unloading, and moving of product within the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank's (FRFB)
warehouse and within the community, including retail stores and partner food distribution sites. The
Driver will also have some responsibility for operating warehouse equipment, as well as the general
maintenance and cleanup of the FRFB warehouse.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Have the ability to perform a variety of distribution models, including drive-thru, walk-up,
- Ensure that the MD truck(s) and equipment are properly maintained, cleaned, and are fully
- Load and offload the assigned truck, ensuring that inventory levels are maintained when loading
correct location. Never return cardboard or trash back to the interior of the building
- Ensure proper records are maintained during distributions in regard to service insights data, and
- Ensure USDA guidelines are in place and followed at all times when TEFAP (The Emergency Food
distributed
- Handle site distribution complaints, suggestions, and requests. Deal effectively with a variety of
- Ensure volunteers are following procedures at all times, always being respectful to our
- Complete daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly assigned tasks to maintain upkeep of building
- Complete assigned deliveries for other distribution services, including children, family, and
- Perform daily Order Ahead tasks when necessary, including printing, packing, or delivering
- Support in-house distributions as scheduled
- Learn and perfect new technology as it becomes available, such as Service Insights and Translate
keeping them charged and clean
- Follow guidelines on Mobile Pantry Standard Operating Procedures guide
- Update Standard Operating Procedures documents, as needed
- Attend required training and workshops to stay in compliance with regulations and policies in
- Route drive for timely execution of product pick-up and delivery from donors and community
- Timely entry of retail donation receipts into the WMS (P2).
- Support warehouse operations upon return from route under the direction of the
- Complete and perform accurate follow-through on documentation for shipping, receiving,
- Work with the Director of Distribution Services and the Distribution Processes Coordinator to
SHARE Program
- Other duties as assigned by the Director of Distribution Services, Operations Manager or
- Honesty, integrity, and commitment to fighting hunger in the Fredericksburg Region
- Ability to relate effectively with other staff, volunteers, community partners, and the general
- Must have a clear understanding of and ability to articulate the mission of the FRFB.
- Ability to complete work in an accurate, useful, and timely manner.
- Must be able to apply for DBIDS within 14 days of hire.
- Valid CDL-B Driver Qualification Required
- Valid Forklift Certification within 30 days of hire

- Attention to detail and follows through on tasks
Working Conditions: This position is often required to work outdoors in seasonal temperatures, hot &
humid summers, and cold & wet winters for several hours at a time. While this position’s responsibilities
are primarily performed in an outdoor setting, the employee may periodically need to withstand long
workdays supporting the FRFB’s special events, food drives, and programs. This position will require the
employee to work frequently on weekends, evenings, and occasional holidays. Alternative days off
during the operating week will be offered if holiday work is necessary.
