KEY RESPONSBILITIES
Reporting to the Chair, the successful candidate will :
Teach undergraduate courses in Dance for students in our Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance, Bachelor of Science in Dance, Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre, and Dance Minor programs;
Advise and mentor students;
Stage choreographic work for Departmental dance concerts and / or musicals;
Actively participate in recruitment activities for the Dance and Musical Theatre programs;
Actively participate in curricular assessment and development;
Attend Departmental and area-specific faculty meetings;
Contribute to curriculum development and refinement;
Participate in committees and provide service to the department, college, university, and profession;
Be aware of, understand, and follow all university policies.
Requirements :
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
MFA or Ph.D in Dance from an accredited institution by August ;
University-level teaching experience in any dance form;
Evidence of effective teaching in at least two of the following : Concert Dance Technique : Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Modern, Ballet;Creative Process : Dance Improvisation, Choreography;Dance History & Theory : Contemporary Dance History, Jazz Dance History, Dance Kinesiology, Dance Pedagogy;Elective Courses : World Dance Forms (African Diasporic dances, Classical Indian dance, etc.), Urban Dance Forms, Musical Theatre Dance, Contemporary Partnering, Contact Improvisation, Somatic Forms, Ballroom Dance, etc.
Demonstrated commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Social Justice, and Belonging (DEISJB) based teaching practices and to honoring the needs of diverse learners;
Experience with instructional technology;
Demonstrated commitment to the university, division, and profession.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Three years of University-level teaching experience;
Experience staging choreographic work in an University setting;
Evidence of creative and / or traditional scholarship in any dance form;
Interest in, and commitment to, community engagement.
