Associate

FREE FAIR develops and leads high-impact litigation to stop the advance of authoritarianism in the U.S. We look in all 50 states for the best opportunities to create strong legal precedents that protect our democracy and rights. Then we build the cases and provide senior leadership from inception through appeals up to the Supreme Court.

Position

Free Fair is seeking an Associate. This attorney will develop and lead multiple high-impact, high-profile constitutional law cases staffed across several partner law firms.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate has relevant, full-time experience in a post-graduate clerkship, fellowship, or litigation role.

Location

This position is based at our NYC headquarters and requires frequent in-office presence.

Compensation and Benefits

• $140,000 – $200,000 commensurate with experience
• Generous paid-time off and family leave policies

How We Work

Free Fair monitors federal and state legislation and executive action to identify authoritarian threats vulnerable to constitutional challenge. We select cases with the greatest potential to create nationally-significant case law to defeat these emerging threats. Then we leverage our national network to form talented teams that can prevail in these high-stakes, high-profile cases, and we provide senior leadership from inception through appeals. 

Free Fair is a 501c3 nonprofit, public interest law firm that works completely pro bono. In most cases, we partner with pro bono teams at private law firms, law professors, and other non-profit organizations. We can also handle cases independently.
