What are the responsibilities and job description for the Product Design Lead position at Free Play?
The Opportunity
We're looking for an experienced, product-minded Product Design Lead to take ownership of design execution and set the standards for product design and craft at Freeplay. As our primary designer, you'll work on all levels of product design from research and core UX design, to day-to-day execution support with engineering.
We're working in a relatively new space where best practices and ideal workflows are still emerging. This is a chance to immerse yourself in the world of building products with generative AI and think from first principles about customer needs and challenges. You'll have an outsized opportunity to lead and define what the Freeplay product becomes.

Your Mission
In this role, you'll lead all aspects of UI and UX design, helping shape the product and workflows that help companies create their own incredible generative AI experiences. You'll immerse yourself in our customers' workflows and pain points, figure out what "better" looks like in a rapidly-changing space, and design solutions that solve real problems for other product development teams. You'll also establish the foundational design practices, from user research to our design system, that we need for this stage of our company's growth.
About YouYou have 7 years of experience in product design, with a focus on B2B SaaS or developer products.You've a self-directed, entrepreneurial designer who's worked in an early stage startup before and enjoys taking ideas from zero to one.You've got a strong foundation in both UX and UI design, with get excited about bringing complex workflows to life in a clean and functional way.You're comfortable working with ambiguity and limited data. You feel confident forming your own perspective, and you trust your strong product sense and taste to make decisions when necessary.You excel in communication and collaboration, including with remote team members.Bonus Points if You Have Some Of The Following

We have a preference for candidates that are available to work full-time on-site in Boulder, CO. We are open to considering exceptional candidates from outside the Boulder area, though we do ask for a commitment to travel to spend time on-site with our team every 6 weeks.
