Job Summary
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a crucial role in providing assistance and support to individuals with developmental disabilities. Responsibilities
- Provide direct support and care to individuals with developmental disabilities in various settings.
- Assist clients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, meal preparation, and medication administration.
- Monitor and document client progress, behaviors, and needs to ensure effective care.
- Develop and implement individualized support plans tailored to each client's unique requirements.
- Foster a positive and supportive environment that encourages social interaction and community involvement.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, family members, and other caregivers to coordinate care.
- Participate in training sessions to enhance caregiving skills and knowledge of best practices in patient care.
Skills
- Strong caregiving skills.
- Experience or knowledge in social work or working with individuals with developmental disabilities that exhibit challenging behaviors.
- Proficient in meal preparation and understanding dietary needs of clients.
- Ability to administer medications safely and accurately.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with individuals served, families, and team members.
- Compassionate and patient demeanor, demonstrating empathy towards the Individuals needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also being able to work independently when required.
