We have an immediate need for an experienced Manager level resource on our Reimbursement Services team within our growing Healthcare Consulting Practice.


About The Job

The Reimbursement Services team within Freed Maxick’s Healthcare Consulting practice provides Medicare/Medicaid regulatory reporting and strategic advisory services to our hospital clients, focusing on revenue optimization and regulatory compliance.


We are seeking a motivated candidate who is excited for an opportunity to expand and grow their career in the healthcare industry, along with our practice. This includes working with other Healthcare Consulting service teams to continuously evolve our service capabilities and the value we collaboratively bring to our clients.


The successful candidate will have the ability to lead Reimbursement Services engagements with clients across a variety of reimbursement areas. This requires effectively working both independently and collaboratively with a team. As a trusted advisor to our clients, this position requires strong attention to detail with the ability to simultaneously discern the bigger picture.

The candidate who fills this role will be responsible for analyzing and interpreting complex financial and regulatory data while organizing and summarizing outputs in an effective manner. They will be responsible for ensuring deliverables are accurate and meet client and team expectations timely and efficiently. This will include leading and overseeing staff resources and deliverables as necessary.


The candidate will be expected to stay “ahead of the curve” with regards to current and future changes in Medicare and Medicaid regulation, keeping our internal team informed of industry updates and ensuring our clients are compliant while optimizing reimbursement opportunities.


What We Are Looking For

  • A Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field
  • CPA preferred but not required
  • 5-10 years of experience in healthcare reimbursement with proficiency in Medicare reimbursement, cost report preparation and its components, including one or more of the following areas: Medicare DSH, Medicaid DSH/IGT reporting, Wage Index, S-10, Medicare Bad Debts, MAC audit assistance and appeals
  • 2-3 years of manager experience including managing projects and some experience managing small teams / people
  • Prior consulting experience strongly preferred
  • Experience with New York State Medicaid reimbursement, ICRs and rate sheets a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to manipulate and analyze large data sets and present the results in a logical, structured, understandable, and well-documented format
  • Local (New York State) candidates a plus but remote/hybrid will be considered based on experience
  • Ability to plan and manage all facets of a client engagement with minimal oversight and ensure deliverables meet client expectations in a timely and efficient manner
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Occasional travel to client sites possible; periodic on-site presence in our Buffalo office required

The compensation for this role varies based on experience and is in the range $90k-$110K. Candidates are eligible for manager incentive programs. These salary ranges are for applicants based in Western New York. Consideration will be given to applicants outside of our geographic area with appropriate ranges provided, based on location.
