At Freedom a la Cart we are passionate about the survivors of human trafficking we serve, our customers, our volunteers, our business partners and our staff. Freedom a la Cart is an innovative, nonprofit social enterprise and workforce development program born to help survivors of human trafficking build a new life of freedom and self-sufficiency. What started as a single food cart is now a bustling catering company and café bakery. We work hard, have fun and roll up our sleeves to empower survivors.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Welcome customers, informing them about specials or new items, answering questions, and accepting orders and payments
• Prepare high-quality coffee beverages, including espresso drinks, pour-overs, cold brews, and other specialty beverages.
• Prepare in-house made syrup, grind coffee beans, brew coffee and tea, and serve to customers.
• Package food and beverages for sale
• Clean and restock work and dining areas, empty trash, and sanitize equipment and utensils
• Learn about brewing methods, beverage blends, food preparation, and presentation techniques to improve food quality
• Update signage and displays to attract customers
• Take inventory and replenish items in display cases, at tables, or behind the counter
• Run food to tables
• Clear dirty dishes from tables
• Spray, rinse and send dirty dishes through dishwasher
• Adhere to all food safety regulations and quality controls
• Promote and maintain an environment of professionalism and positivity with other employees, customers and suppliers
• Teach and adhere to Freedom a la cart philosophy, culture and commitment to quality food and exemplary service
• Other duties as assigned

• Patient and compassionate
• Ability to maintain calmness in the kitchen while dealing with stressful situations during busy periods
• Experience in food and beverage preparation or customer service preferred.
• Willingness to continue learning about food and beverage preparation.
• Availability to work around peak hours, including early mornings, lunch, and Saturday’s.
• Commitment to customer satisfaction and service excellence.
• Willingness to work as part of a high-energy, efficient team in a fast-paced environment.
• A total team player with strong work ethic and “can-do” attitude
• Ability to problem-solve, troubleshoot, anticipate needs and apply sound judgment in new or unusual situations
• Effectively manage time and prioritize requests to meet deadlines
• Flexible with the ever ebbing and flowing needs of a growing company
• Ability to walk, bend, and stand for extended periods.
