Freedom Behavioral is seeking compassionate and dedicated Mental Health Technicians (MHTs) to join our growing team, providing essential care for Adult Male Psychiatric Patients. This vital role supports a therapeutic environment, ensuring the safety, well-being, and dignity of our patients while adhering to regulatory standards established by the Joint Commission (TJC) and CMS.

- Shift Availability: Night Shift (7 PM - 7 AM)
- Status: PRN
Position Summary:
As a Mental Health Technician (MHT), you will be an integral part of the nursing team, providing direct care to psychiatric patients and assisting with their activities of daily living. Your responsibilities will include:
- Direct Patient Care: Assist patients with daily activities such as hygiene, eating, and dressing, ensuring their physical and emotional needs are met.
- Safety and Observation: Observe patient behaviors and interactions, reporting changes to nursing staff. Maintain a safe environment by following safety protocols and reporting any unusual behaviors to the clinical team.
- Therapeutic Support: Engage patients in therapeutic activities and provide emotional support and coping strategies, as directed by the nursing team.
- Collaboration with Clinical Staff: Work closely with licensed nursing staff to implement care plans, assist with medication reminders, vital sign monitoring, and other supportive tasks.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate patient records, documenting behaviors, activities, and interactions in accordance with facility policies and regulatory standards.
- Patient Advocacy: Advocate for the dignity, privacy, and rights of patients, ensuring they are treated with respect in a compassionate, non-judgmental environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. Additional education or certifications in mental health or healthcare is a plus.
- Experience:
- Previous experience in a healthcare or psychiatric setting is preferred.
- Experience as a nursing assistant, psychiatric aide, or similar role in a psychiatric facility is highly desired.
- Experience working with adult male psychiatric patients or in a behavioral health unit is a plus.
Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic patient care techniques, including assisting with daily activities and monitoring vital signs.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients and staff.
- Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to changes in patient behavior or condition.
- Effective communication skills for collaborative work within a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to follow facility policies and ensure compliance with Joint Commission and CMS regulations.
- Basic knowledge of mental health conditions and treatment modalities is beneficial.
