Qualified candidates for the Ward Clerk/MHT position must have excellent customer service skills, advanced computer skills, and the ability to be flexible, organized, and work well under pressure. The Ward Clerk's primary responsibility will be to maintain census, answer and direct phone calls appropriately in a courteous and professional manner and perform basic clerical duties as assigned by the Nurse Manager and charge RN. When needed, the Ward Clerk is expected to work as an MHT/CNA; therefore, knowledge of how to perform direct patient care is a must. The individual must have a basic understanding of how to measure and record patients' vital signs, how to assist as needed with patients' ADLs, and the ability to monitor and support patients' needs. The Ward Clerk must be physically capable of performing the duties/requirements of a MHT/CNA.
Education Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent required
CNA preferred
Technical Skills:
Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately
Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals
Knowledge of medical terminology required
Basic computer knowledge required
Excellent customer service skills required
Visual and auditory ability to observe daily need of acute care patients
Physical capability to provide basic care needs for patients served
