Position Overview:

As part of the talented Freedom Boat Club team—the nation’s oldest and largest private member boat club—you will serve as both a Captain and an Assistant Club Manager, ensuring a seamless experience for our members. In this full-time role, you will be responsible for assisting in club operations, managing dock staff, and delivering high-quality training sessions for our members a few times per week.

We are looking for a highly motivated individual with a strong background in boating, customer service, and leadership to provide exceptional service, maintain an impeccably clean fleet, and assist in the daily management of club operations. This position will be full-time, 40 hours per week, with a combination of dock management responsibilities and training duties.

Assistant Club Manager

• Train and mentor dock personnel to ensure exceptional member service at all club locations.
• Maintain a cooperative, team-oriented attitude when working with supervisors and fellow employees.
• Assist in developing monthly dock staff schedules in coordination with the Club Manager.
• Ensure consistent, high-quality service by adhering to dock operation best practices.
• Oversee member interactions, ensuring smooth check-in, boarding, and disembarkation procedures.
• Monitor and enforce weekly vessel maintenance schedules, ensuring boats receive regular deep cleaning.
• Use Fleetio to submit and track work orders for fleet maintenance.
• Investigate and report member incidents, submitting documentation to the main office as needed.
• Assist with inventory management and ensure adequate supply levels are maintained at each location.
• Support the Club Manager with administrative paperwork and submissions.
• Oversee fuel logs and vessel fueling operations.
• Maintain familiarity with local waterways and ensure compliance with all safety policies.

Boating Instructor:

• Conduct a few training sessions per week for club members, ensuring they receive proper instruction on boat operation, safety, and navigation.
• Check in and finalize vessel details with members using a tablet.
• Assist members in boarding and disembarking, ensuring safety procedures are followed.
• Provide a “Red Carpet” level of service, anticipating and addressing member needs.
• Communicate effectively with members, answering questions and providing guidance on local waterways.
• Address minor member incidents with professionalism and maintain a friendly, service-oriented demeanor.
• Promote Freedom Boat Club membership opportunities to prospective members.
• Maintain professional communication with co-workers, corporate teams, and members.
• US Coast Guard Captain’s License required.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 21 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Pass a background check and drug screening.
• Highly effective communication and customer service skills.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Availability to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks such as bending, kneeling, and balancing on docks and boats.
• Previous boating instructor experience or training background.
• Prior experience in marina operations, boating, or dock management.
• Self-starter with a positive attitude and ability to work independently.
• Familiarity with Fleetio or similar fleet management software.
• Outdoor work in various weather conditions for extended periods.
• Work on floating and fixed docks, often near and on the water.
• Safely maneuver on, off, and within vessels in changing tide and weather conditions.

The anticipated pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.00, hourly. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. This position is salary non-exempt and eligible for overtime.

At Brunswick, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the salary range for their role. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate’s qualifications and the business context.
