About Freedom Hollow Ranch:

Freedom Hollow Ranch is an equine sanctuary and a 501(c)(3) pending private operating foundation dedicated to the rescue and long-term care of horses. We provide a safe and nurturing environment for horses in need, and we are passionate about their well-being. We are seeking a highly motivated and physically capable Ranch Hand to join our team and contribute to the essential upkeep of our sanctuary.

Position Summary:

This position is primarily focused onmaintaining the ranch grounds to ensure the safety and well-being of our horses. The ideal candidate will possess a strong work ethic and a proven ability to perform outdoor, manual labor for extended periods. This role requires a self-starter who understands the importance of safety procedures and can work efficiently both independently and as part of a team. Comfort and familiarity with horses is required, as you will often be working in close proximity to them. This position can be either full-time or part-time, and is year-round (not seasonal.)

Responsibilities:

Grounds and Pasture Maintenance:

• Prolonged periods of mowing and weed whacking across large acreage.
• Clearing pastures of rocks and debris, requiring repetitive bending, lifting, and carrying heavy objects to ensure horse safety.
• Heavy landscaping tasks, including moving and spreading soil, mulch, and gravel.

Fence Maintenance:

• Building, repairing, and maintaining fences, including digging post holes, lifting and placing posts, and working with wire fencing.

Trail Maintenance:

• Creating and maintaining trails, which may involve clearing brush, moving rocks, and grading pathways.
• Debris removal, including lifting and hauling heavy branches, fallen trees, and other materials.

Equipment Maintenance:

• Performing routine maintenance and repairs on ranch equipment.
• Safe operation of power tools.

Barn and Shed Maintenance:

• Maintaining cleanliness and functionality of barns, sheds, and other structures.

Horse Care Assistance:

• Assisting with the care of horses, which may include collection and disposal of horse droppings, feeding, grooming, and other related tasks.

Other:

• Performing other duties as assigned to support the overall operation of the ranch.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in physically demanding landscaping, farming, or related fields.
• Demonstrated ability to perform manual labor for extended periods and to lift and carry heavy objects regularly.
• Knowledge of and experience with groundskeeping, equipment maintenance, and basic construction/repair.
• Ability to safely operate and maintain various types of equipment (e.g., power tools, tractors, mowers, weed whackers).
• Basic mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in equipment repair and maintenance.
• Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Must have reliable transportation.
• Clean record and ability to pass a background check.
• Comfort and familiarity with horses.

Compensation:

$20-$23 per hour (depending on experience) plus benefits.
