Position: Finance Assistant
Reports to: Human Resource/Finance Coordinator
Location: 2997 Saint Anthony Drive, Green Bay WI
Overview:
Freedom House Ministries, a faith-based nonprofit organization with a $1.4 million annual budget, seeks a detail-oriented and organized Finance Assistant. Reporting directly to the Finance Coordinator, this role supports the financial operations of the organization, ensuring accurate and timely record-keeping. The Finance Assistant will work onsite, contributing to the mission of providing shelter and dignity to families experiencing homelessness.
Responsibilities:
- Financial Record Maintenance
- Assist in maintaining accurate financial records, including accounts payable and receivable.
- Enter financial transactions into accounting software with precision.
- Support the Finance Coordinator with reconciling bank statements and other financial documents.
- Budget Tracking and Reporting
- Support the Finance Coordinator in monitoring budgets and preparing financial reports.
- Help ensure compliance with organizational financial policies and procedures.
- Human Resources Support
- Assist in maintaining confidential personnel records.
- Support HR functions such as verifying employee timesheets and processing payroll information.
- Coordinate onboarding documentation for new hires.
- Administrative Support
- Organize and file financial and personnel documents, including invoices, receipts, contracts, and HR records.
- Provide administrative assistance for financial audits, HR compliance, and other reviews.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with the Finance Coordinator to identify and resolve discrepancies.
- Coordinate with other team members and departments to ensure seamless financial and HR operations.
- Confidentiality and Discretion
- Manage sensitive financial and personal information with utmost confidentiality and professionalism.
- Ensure compliance with privacy policies and ethical standards.
- Other Responsibilities
- Assist with special financial and HR projects as needed.
- Uphold the organization’s mission and values in all work activities.
Qualifications:
- Education
o High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree in accounting, finance, human resources, or related field preferred.
- Experience
o Minimum of 2 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, HR, or finance-related roles. Nonprofit experience is a plus.
Skills:
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Important level of accuracy and attention to detail.
