Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part-Time Ultrasound Technician to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will provide high-quality diagnostic ultrasound imaging services to patients, working closely with physicians and other medical staff to ensure accurate diagnostic results. This position is ideal for a technician who enjoys working in a close-knit, community-focused environment where patient care is a top priority.
Key Responsibilities:
• Perform ultrasound examinations, including but not limited to abdominal, obstetric, gynecologic, vascular, and small parts imaging, as ordered by physicians.
• Prepare and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring proper functionality and cleanliness.
• Record and analyze ultrasound data, producing high-quality diagnostic images for physician interpretation.
• Explain procedures to patients, ensuring their comfort and addressing any concerns they may have during the imaging process.
• Collaborate with radiologists and referring physicians to provide clear and accurate diagnostic information.
• Maintain patient records and ensure proper documentation in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
• Adhere to infection control and patient safety protocols.
• Participate in continuing education and training as required to stay current with industry standards and advancements.
• Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling and maintaining inventory of supplies when needed.
• Provide on-call support for urgent imaging cases (if applicable).
Qualifications:
• Education: Associate’s degree or certification from an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) program.
• Certification: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification is required; additional certifications in vascular or other specialties are preferred.
• Experience: Prior experience as an ultrasound technician, preferably in a hospital setting. Experience in a rural healthcare setting is a plus.
• Skills:
• Proficiency in the operation of ultrasound equipment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially in patient interactions.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Attention to detail and accuracy in performing imaging and documentation.
• Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift or move equipment, and assist with patient positioning as needed.
Schedule:
• Part-time, typically 10-15 hours per week, with flexibility to cover various shifts.
• Occasional on-call or weekend shifts may be required based on the hospital’s needs.
