Position Summary:

 

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Part-Time Ultrasound Technician to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will provide high-quality diagnostic ultrasound imaging services to patients, working closely with physicians and other medical staff to ensure accurate diagnostic results. This position is ideal for a technician who enjoys working in a close-knit, community-focused environment where patient care is a top priority.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Perform ultrasound examinations, including but not limited to abdominal, vascular, and small parts imaging, as ordered by physicians.  Echo certified preferred.

Prepare and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring proper functionality and cleanliness.

Record and analyze ultrasound data, producing high-quality diagnostic images for physician interpretation.

Explain procedures to patients, ensuring their comfort and addressing any concerns they may have during the imaging process.

Collaborate with radiologists and referring physicians to provide clear and accurate diagnostic information.

Maintain patient records and ensure proper documentation in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.

Adhere to infection control and patient safety protocols.

Participate in continuing education and training as required to stay current with industry standards and advancements.

Assist with administrative tasks such as scheduling and maintaining inventory of supplies when needed.

Provide on-call support for urgent imaging cases (if applicable).

 

Qualifications:

 

Education: Associate’s degree or certification from an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) program.

Certification: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification is required; additional certifications in vascular or other specialties are preferred.

Experience: Prior experience as an ultrasound technician, preferably in a hospital setting. Experience in a rural healthcare setting is a plus.

Skills:

Proficiency in the operation of ultrasound equipment.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially in patient interactions.

Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Attention to detail and accuracy in performing imaging and documentation.

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift or move equipment, and assist with patient positioning as needed.

 

Schedule:

 

Part-time, typically 10-15 hours per week, with flexibility to cover various shifts.

Occasional on-call or weekend shifts may be required based on the hospital’s needs.
