What are the responsibilities and job description for the Experience Mil-Spec Painter position at Freedom Metal Finishing?
Summary:
As an Experienced Mil-Spec Painter, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality painting services in both residential and commercial settings. Reporting to the project manager, your role involves utilizing skills such as proficiency with hand tools, an understanding of color theory, and expertise in blueprint reading to ensure all projects meet specifications. You will also apply renovation techniques while maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, and efficiency. A clean and organized work environment will be key to contributing to the success of our manufacturing processes.
Professional painters must have advanced knowledge of various paints and their applications. They should understand the characteristics of different varnishes, oils, and paint additives to achieve specific colors, textures, or effects. Advising customers and tailoring solutions to meet their preferences is a crucial part of this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, and priming as needed.
- Apply coatings using industry-standard methods, including special finishing techniques, to achieve desired results.
- Read and interpret blueprints, manuals, and technical directions related to the mixture, application, and use of various coating materials, solvents, and pre-coating agents.
- Replace markings and letterings in accordance with specified guidelines.
- Advise clients on suitable paints, finishes, and textures to meet their desired appearance, ensuring professional and satisfactory results.
Typical Minimums: High School Diploma or equivalent. Mathematical ability to perform and/or understand the calculations used in assigned areas and ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications and technical data. Competently uses computers and other systems to access, maintain, and manipulate data. Interpersonal skills and ability to interface with all levels, to work in teams or independently and communicate effectively with co-workers or supervisory staff.
Basic Qualifications
Must have some knowledge of surface preparation and coatings. Be able to read and execute proper surface preparation and/or surface finish to Blue-Print specifications. Also, able to do lay-out of sheet metal and extrusion parts.
Must be able to do qualification test of painting skills before hire.

Requirements & Experience
- This position is scheduled 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM Monday-Friday, but OT, weekend work, are expected and required.
- All candidates are required to have a minimum of five (5) years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Painting for Metal Finishing business.
- All candidates must be highly motivated professionals, excellent problem solvers, and capable of retaining their focus in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.
- All candidates must be effective communicators who can work well with all levels of management and staff.
Rate is Depending on experience.
