Summary:

The Director of Philanthropy is responsible for developing and implementing philanthropic strategies to support the mission and goals of our organization with a focus on increasing employee engagement. Reporting to the Vice President of Public Relations, this individual manages the details of campaigns, projects, programs, and events to drive the company’s philanthropic initiatives and maximize volunteering and fundraising efforts.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Direct and oversee company’s four core Freedom Cares philanthropic initiatives: Rucksacks to Backpacks, Project Gratitude, Freedom from Hunger, and Toy drive.
  • Oversee all philanthropic project communication and program materials.
  • Lead Freedom Cares committee for nationwide implementation of annual campaigns and host monthly virtual committee meetings, providing program updates and instructions.
  • Oversee Freedom to Give, our on-going payroll deduction employee giving campaign.
  • Manage and maintain relationships with nonprofit partners: USO, Eagles Autism Foundation, Feeding America, Homes for Our Troops, Salvation Army, Habitat for Humanity etc.
  • Identify, review and assess philanthropic partnerships and nonprofit opportunities to enhance existing efforts or extend to new initiatives.
  • Manage employee volunteer time off (VTO) program, developing volunteer opportunities and assist HR with time tracking.
  • Integrate PR opportunities into philanthropic initiatives when possible.
  • Manage program budgets, data collection, and analysis of program’s impact.
  • Facilitate and track corporate donation requests and corresponding sponsorship opportunities.
  • Oversee charity auctions, site set up, securing prizes and communication to maximize donations.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance.

Other Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support VP of Public Relations with PR duties as assigned including but not limited to: assisting with award submissions, creating, drafting, and distributing press releases, and pitching media.
  • Support corporate events: technical assistance, production, develop materials, draft communications, and assist with operations.
  • Position is hybrid. Must have the ability to report to Marlton, NJ Office at least 2 days per week, presently every Tuesday and Wednesday. Subject to change without notice.
  • Other duties as directed and required.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position is an individual contributor with no direct reports but may provide guidance, leadership, or training to others as needed.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, this experienced individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Availability to work evenings and weekends and to travel as needed.
  • Must be able to lift moderate to heavy items to support events.
  • Understanding of mortgage, banking or real estate industry a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) with an ability to adapt communication style to a number of different audiences.
  • Have a good eye for detail, value quality, and be driven towards excellence.
  • Ability to work well independently to manage and prioritize diverse projects concurrently.
  • Possess excellent organizational skills, creative thinking and problem-solving in pressured situations.
  • Knowledge of industry trends and best practices in philanthropy and public relations.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of senior executives, employees of the organization, or nonprofit partners.
  • Possess excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to work well independently to manage and prioritize diverse projects concurrently and possess excellent organizational skills, creative thinking, and problem-solving in pressured situations.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in philanthropy, public relations, marketing, or a related field required
  • 5 years relevant experience, including prior leadership working at a nonprofit or within a corporation handling its philanthropic initiatives, preferred
  • Experience in storytelling, media outreach, video content creation, and event management preferred

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge and experience using event management, and auction software preferred.
  • Familiarity with navigating journalist’s database preferred (i.e. Cision, Meltwater, Muckrack, etc.).

Problems and issues faced are numerous and undefined, and require detailed information gathering, analysis and investigation to understand the problem. Problems typically impact many departments. Problems are typically solved through drawing from prior experience and analysis of issues.
