Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Patient Account Specialist to join our team. Responsibilities
- Process and submit medical billing claims to insurance companies and government payers.
- Review patient records for accuracy and completeness before billing.
- Utilize coding systems such as ICD-10 and ICD-9 to ensure proper documentation of diagnoses and procedures.
- Manage accounts receivable, including follow-up on unpaid claims and resolving discrepancies.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers to clarify any issues related to billing or coding.
- Maintain organized medical records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist in the collection of outstanding balances from patients and insurance companies.
- Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations, coding practices, and payer requirements.
Requirements
- Proven experience in medical billing, preferably within a pediatric therapy office setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical coding systems, including ICD-10, ICD-9, CPT codes, and related terminology.
- Familiarity with medical collection processes and best practices.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Proficient in using medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong communication skills for effective interaction with patients, providers, and insurance representatives.
- Certification in medical billing or coding is a plus but not required.
