BIM Engineer

NYC local3 Electrical Contractor seeks BIM Modeler/Engineer for their growiing company. Salary up to $150k including local 3 union benefits

The candidate will be responsible for developing and managing detailed 3D models of electrical systems for commercial projects using Revit and AutoCAD.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and manage detailed 3D models of electrical systems for commercial projects using Revit and AutoCAD
• Coordinate with other trades (e.g., mechanical, plumbing, structural) to ensure proper integration of electrical systems using Navisworks for 3D coordination and clash detection
• Attend on-site and virtual coordination meetings with General Contractor and other trades
• Create detailed installation drawings for all electrical system components including equipment, conduit, and supports
• Collaborate and communicate with team members to ensure project goals are met
• Verify that drawings and installations comply with applicable codes and specifications
• Perform electrical load calculations, ampacity adjustments, and voltage drop analysis to ensure reliability and compliance with codes
• Conduct project site visits to gather necessary data for accurate drafting and documentation
• Regular, predictable, and reliable on-site attendance is an essential function of the job

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Minimum 3 years of experience in a high-volume contractor design and drafting environment or a Bachelor’s in Construction Management or Engineering preferred
• Proficient with Revit, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Microsoft Word and Excel
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in drafting
• Ability to interpret and translate construction drawings
• Proven ability to design and draft basic electrical systems
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
