Duties
- Provide one-on-one support to individuals navigating mental health or substance use issues.
- Utilize crisis management skills to assist clients in high-stress situations.
- Engage in motivational interviewing techniques to empower clients toward positive change.
- Facilitate group sessions focused on recovery strategies and coping mechanisms.
- Mentor clients by sharing personal experiences and insights related to recovery.
- Collaborate with social workers, mental health counselors, and other professionals within the behavioral health system to ensure comprehensive care.
- Assist clients in developing personalized recovery plans and goals.
- Provide education on available resources and support systems within the community.
- Document client progress and maintain accurate records as required.
Experience
- Certification as a Peer Specialist is required.
- Previous experience in crisis intervention or addiction counseling is preferred.
- Familiarity with behavioral health systems and resources is essential.
- Strong mentoring skills with the ability to inspire hope and resilience in others.
- Experience in social work or mental health counseling is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are necessary for effective client interaction.
