Position Summary:
Health Center Dietary Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the preparation of all food items as per standardized recipes and special diet orders. Assists the Dietary Manager with the Health Center food service program and provides the level of supervision necessary to ensure that courteous and efficient service is delivered as well as high quality and nutritious foods.

Essential Job Duties:
1. Assists in the planning, scheduling and supervision of Health Center dietary staff.
2. Assists in developing all menus and standardized recipes for Health Center residents assessing preferences and nutritional needs. Determines amount and type of food and supplies required for daily menus, placing food orders and seeing that supplies are obtained from storage areas in adequate time for meal production.
3. Assists in assuring staff education is provided to dietary staff and culinary team in accordance with the staff education plan plus provides on the job training for Health Center dietary staff.
4. Assists in developing work assignments for all dietary staff assigning specific jobs and spot checking work to ensure standards are met.
5. Responsible for completion of hall trays and accuracy.
6. Contacts the dietitian if unplanned or special therapeutic diets are ordered.
7. Assures that meal tallies are accurate on a daily basis.
8. Assign cleaning schedules daily.
Other Duties:
1. Assists in providing on-the-job training for Health Center dining room staff.
2. Inspects equipment to determine repairs or maintenance needs.
3. Participates in cost control measures.
4. Attends in-service training and education sessions as assigned.
5. Performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. High School diploma/GED required.
2. A minimum of two years supervisory experience in food service operations of a health care setting.
3. Certified in safety and sanitation in regards to food service.
4. Prefer experience in a long-term health care environment.
5. Ability to communicate with, understand, empathize with, work with and be tolerant of residents, families, visitors, peers, supervisors, and subordinates.
6. Ability to interpret and explain menus, refer or answer questions, coordinate meal service process and understand requests.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Must be able to stand or walk for up to 8 hours per day. Must be able to bend, stoop, and stretch frequently throughout the day. Moderate to heavy physical effort needed infrequently. Manual dexterity for preparing food. Ability to use standard industrial kitchen appliances required. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. independently. May be exposed to extreme temperatures (freezers and stoves-range burners) for short periods of time. May be exposed to industrial cleaning chemicals. Must be able to see, hear, and communicate with others.
