SUMMARY :
A Quality Engineer ensures that all products and services meet the highest safety and quality standards. This role involves developing and maintaining quality assurance processes, conducting audits, and collaborating with various departments to ensure compliance with industry regulations and customer requirements.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Support of all AS9100 Quality Management System certification activities, including auditing, planning, implementing, and maintaining Quality processes and systems.
Provide QMS guidance to internal key stakeholders, to build, implement and improve policy, procedures and systems that meet FreeFlight Systems business objectives.
Assess and optimize core business processes through internal audits to ensure conformance to QMS policies and procedures in accordance with AS9100 / ISO 9001 standard, FAA, EASA, UK CAA, and other officials, regulations as well as customer requirements.
Measure and monitor Target Attainment Plans and support the generation of monthly QMS metric reports and improvement initiatives.
Develop QMS Continuous Improvement Plans including resources needed, timeline with critical path and milestones using Project Management best practices and Lean principles to achieve the goals of the QMS.
Review and approve supplier surveys and certifications to maintain the currency of the Approved Vendor List and new supplier approvals.
Develop Quality Control Plans applying Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP) utilizing Process Flow Diagrams, System FMEAs, Cause-and-effect analysis, Product Critical Characteristics and First Article Inspections.
Maintain and support a multi-site Calibration Control program.
Review Quality Control data of soldering and conformal coating of Electronic Circuit Card Assemblies using IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards.
Assist Material Review Board to support inventory goals and provide expedient supplier feedback.
Generate and manage Supplier Corrective Action and review supplier root cause analysis and corrective action response.
Generate and deploy Supplier Scorecards.
Support Supplier on-site visits.
Provide clear communication and feedback between the Engineering team and the Quality team.
Support the transition of products from Engineering development to Production with the generation and implementation of documentation of Critical to Quality inspection points and characteristics. This includes the review and approval of New Product Parts, Material Change Requests and Engineering Change Orders.
Participate in Design Reviews and First Article Inspections and provide Quality risk analysis with innovative and cost-effective solutions.
Lead efforts to uncover Root-Cause and develop permanent resolutions on Quality issues found during Quality Control, Production, Product Testing and Customer feedback.
EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in Engineering is preferred
Strong written communication skills, verbal communication skills and analytical skills including proficiency in all Microsoft Office Suite applications, databases, ERP software, Power BI or another analytics tool.
Advance use of MS Excel with focus on report generation using forms and VBA macros.
3-5 years of direct experience working as a Quality Engineer with a focus on electronicCCAs, mechanical assembly, and software assurance is preferred
3-5 years of experience working in a regulated environment, and with control of nonconforming hardware, software, failure / root cause analysis, corrective, and preventive action methodologies.
Prefer experience with CCA circuit diagrams and mechanical specifications and working with Material Review Board and material disposition.
Knowledge of Design for Manufacturability, Advance Product Quality Planning (APQP), Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Failure Mode & Effects Analysis, and Statistical Process Control
Application of Lean Manufacturing, Process Improvement principles, and Project Management best practices.
Strong technical and problem-solving skills and Strong technical writing skills with the ability to communicate effectively with management, technical teams, and all organization's business units.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, independently, as well as being self-motivated and proactive, including being innovative, detail oriented, possess initiative, be positive, and people oriented.
Solid understanding of IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 standards.
Solid understanding of RTCA DO-178 for software and DO-160 and DO-254 for hardware engineering design review.
Experienced inspecting solder, crimping, conformal coating, and surface mounted devices in accordance with IPC-J-STD-001 and IPC-A-610 standards.
Ability to become FAA Designated Manufacturing Inspection Representative (DMIR) certification.
Lead auditor training and QMS assessment and implementation experience.
Passion for advancing the current state of the art of the commercial and military aviation industries.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Qualified candidates should be able to speak effectively to customers. The applicant must possess the ability to write routine reports and correspondences.
OTHER KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Candidates must have a strong command of computer desktop tools such as MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) to assist in completing essential duties. Effectively demonstrates strong written and verbal communication skills. Syteline experience is preferred but not required.
